Surface Mining

Rayne's Sand & Gravel, Inc. is a licensed surface mine operator with the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE). Our surface mine is where all of our select fill material and topsoil is excavated prior to delivery. We have been working closely with MDE's surface mining division for over 30 years and we have developed a great working relationship with their staff.

In 1992 Rayne's received an award from The State of Maryland Department of Natural Resources Water Resources Administration for the "Outstanding Surface Mine Reclamation of a Site Twenty Acres or Less." This award was presented by Robert D. Miller, who at that time was the Director of the Water Resources Administration.
